The American Federation of Riders, Inc. was founded in 1982 when several motorcyclists came to the aid of a newly orphaned child. They held weekly meetings to develop ways of raising money. After overcoming many obstacles, over $9,000 was raised through a Poker Run, and placed in annuities under the child's name.
